Mission Statement
'For the community, by the community'
The purpose of the Julatten Community Centre is to be a productive nucleus to nurture the strengths and the future of all in our community, particularly those who are highly motivated but are not able to access support by other means. The Community Centre seeks to provide an atmosphere where families and children experience a sense of connections to others in our community and can become involved in supporting the services that will ultimately benefit all.
The Community Centre recognises the current needs of this rural community as expressed by families and will examine the feasibility of providing and supporting those needs, realising that these needs fluctuate and that the Community Centre must maintain flexible delivery of services. The staff at the Community Centre will provide a positive environment. This means that kindness, consideration, thoughtfulness, generosity and community minded approaches are essential requirements for all members, for these are the qualities needed to maintain the services our Community Centre provides. The Community Centre will aim to foster healthy lifestyles and preservation of natural values through environmentally friendly practices. The Julatten Community Centre was created by a group of volunteers that recognised a need for services that were lacking in the remote areas of Julatten, Mt Molloy, Mt Carbine, Maryfarms and surrounds. The Community Centre seeks to provide an atmosphere where adults and children experience a sense of connection to others in the local area and can become involved in supporting the services that will ultimately benefit all. Within the centre is the Sunbird Children's Centre which runs a quality child care program with an embedded government approved Kindergarten program for children aged 6mths to 5yrs. The Julatten Community Centre activities also include, but are not limited to, provision of information, advice and referral, individual support, child and family support, parenting programs, workshops and other Early Year's activities.
